Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding at the Berryhill Estate located in South Boston.

The Bride and Groom were blessed with a beautiful day. A cool breeze and low humidity were the perfect addition to their outdoor adventure.

Heather McPherson and Jason Dew were married at 6p.m. on July 10, 2010.

The wedding went off without any problems.

Photos went well by photographer Hooman Bahrani from Winston-Salem, NC. He was a pleasure to work with and I think we did a good job of staying out of each others way. The bride and groom seemed to enjoy his style. I have not seen his photos from the wedding but the engagement shots were great.

During the reception a live band was brought in from New York and they did a fun and fantastic job. The name of the singer was Doug Ferony.

Last but not least was the food. I loved it. Something about buffet at a wedding. BBQ veggies, Steak, fresh fruit, Fried Tomatoes, Sweet and Mashed Potatoes. mmm mmm mmm!

I recently had the privilege of taking a production trip to Canada. Our friendly neighbors in the “Great White North” were amazing. I was shocked by how friendly they were.

My wife and I traveled to Buffalo. NY by plane out of Lynchburg then rented a car for the trip to London, Ontario. We were there for a few days. Taping video from the Rehearsal Dinner all the way to the end of the reception. This is a break from the norm as most clients only have us there for between 4 to 6 hours. Yet, on rare occasion we get a friend for a client and like to do a little something extra.
The Wedding of Christi Wood (Canadian) and Joshua Straub (American) went off without a hitch…or is it with one? In either case things seemed to flow along flawlessly. Well all but the broken pinky toe that the groom picked up at the beach the day before the wedding.

After the wedding we took a detour to Niagara Falls, bought some trinkets for the kids and then headed home. We were driving the Grooms Nissan XTerra for the 10 hour drive back to Lynchburg. Other than the 2 hour delay and harassment at the northern border by the jerks at homeland security…long story, we made it back without incident.

Now begins the LONG process of editing 6 hours of video.

A labor of love though.

Why would I offer such a crazy deal? Because I know times are tough. The average wedding costs between $20,000 and $50,000 and couples just don’t have that kind of money. I’m also trying to expand the wedding video business after moving 3000 miles from California to Virginia. It is time to take it up a notch and the only way that is going to happen is with a significant increase of clients.
